How to plant an avocado at home, from a seed, to have an endless supply

Avocado is a delicious and irresistible food, versatile enough to be added to a wide variety of preparations or eaten on its own (add a tablespoon of olives and a pinch of salt, even better!). However, being a tropical vegetable, it is often difficult to find in supermarkets, and its cost can be high.

Below we explain how to plant an avocado tree at home, from its seed. It’s a very simple operation, which can save us a lot of money. Not to mention the satisfaction of eating a homemade vegetable.

The first thing to do is to extract the pit of the avocado, without cutting or breaking it. Once the seed has been washed, to remove any residue from the plant, and has been thoroughly dried, it is necessary to proceed with the preparation of the soil.

Some seeds are triangular in shape, while others are more spherical. But all have a bottom (where the roots will come from) and a top. It is important to determine the end through which the roots will come out, as this is the end that must be submerged in the water.
