How to plant an avocado at home, from a seed, to have an endless supply

Insert toothpicks into the sides of the seed and place them in a glass of water (the bottom should be completely submerged, see photo).

Germinate the seed for 3 to 6 weeks. After this period, a shoot will have grown above the seed and roots below.

When the stem reaches 6 to 8 inches tall, cut it in half to encourage new growth. Finally, move the plant to a larger pot by making a hole in the center of the pot to place the plant.
